My experience with Mākoha Mirimiri has been an amazing opportunity, I feel extremely lucky to learn the mirimiri and also have the Mākoha mirimiri experience. It has taught me the holistic approach of wellness, and the beauty a mirimiri can be when incorporating the natural environment to the mākoha dance. I had so much fun, had such a relaxing and rejuvenating weekend where I learn’t more about myself and learnt the skills needed to share the gift of Mākoha mirimiri.
This has added to my kete of learning and I am looking forward to sharing this knowledge and giving back to the tangata whenua. Ultimately it has planted a seed and I am going to take it develop it and nourish this gift. I would like to give a huge THANK YOU to Elaine Denton. Hi my name is Tutina Pasene of Rarotongan/Tahitian/Nuiean descent; I was very fortunate, lucky and felt totally privilege to enjoy an amazingly beautiful relaxing experience with Elaine from Mākoha Mirimiri.
Coming from a background where we are pretty shy about exposing our bodies, I can totally confess that I felt totally comfortable and relaxed and not even worried about my wobbly bits, as Elaine has a special wairua about her, that makes you feel special and comfortable about yourself. Our session was very inspiring, spiritual, soothing, relaxing, healing and a total joy, with Elaine breaking out into beautiful waiata, making it even more special, leaving me feeling cleanse in so many ways. I take my hat off to Elaine for her passion; drive and belief in herself to make something she loves come alive and is now offering this all to us, while she is a mother, wife, teacher, student, cook, house cleaner, driver and everything else that goes with being a woman with family and in business.
It is also breath taking to see a young passionate Māori woman making her dream become real, by opening up Mākoha Miri Miri and offering this amazing healing experience to us all.
